Well in English we had to do a report over something that happened between 1930- 1945. I did a report over the concentration camp "Bergen-Belesn" I hope you like it and please read it.
Bergen-Belsen
Imagine that you lived in 1935 and you had been of the Jewish religion. You did not have enough time to go into hiding and you got taken away to a concentration camp. You got taken to a place called Bergen-Belsen. Your life was great until you got taken to this camp. Bergen-Belsen changed many people’s lives and now it may change your life.
Near Hanover in Northwest Germany became known as Bergen-Belsen headquarters. Bergen-Belsen held French and Belgium prisoners. Most of the prisoners were women. When Bergen-Belsen became known, it only held about 10,000 prisoners.
Bergen-Belsen has many firsts. One first would have been that it became known as the first death camp entered by Western allies. Also, Bergen-Belsen became known as having first-hand accounts of Mass Graves. July 7, 1943 came to be known as the first move of Jewish prisoners to Bergen-Belsen.
Bergen-Belsen became known for many things. It became known as where Anne and Margot Frank died. Also, Bergen-Belsen didn’t have any gas chambers. People died of starvation, hung, shot, or by disease.
People died of many things in Bergen-Belsen. Bergen-Belsen did not burn people to death. People mainly died of starvation. People also died of being shot, hung, or by disease. Anne and Margot Frank became housed inside Bergen-Belsen in which they died of typhus.
Bergen-Belsen had 8 different sections inside of it. Each section had its own qualities. In some camps people had to suffer hard labor and became sick within weeks in which they died. In some camps, people didn’t have to work at all and got fed. Also, if they became sick they got cared for properly. Also, in some camps, the people had to wear the “Star of David” sewn on their clothes.
One of the camps in Bergen-Belsen became known as the “Star Camp”. 4,000 prisoners consisted in the “Star Camp”. In the “Star Camp” prisoners had to wear a yellow “Star of David”. From the “Star Camp”, only 6,000 Jews returned home after the war out of a total of 110,000.
The Hungarian camp became known as another camp in Bergen-Belsen. The Hungarian camp became know on July 8, 1944, when it became established. Also, in the “Hungarian Camp” people were treated better than people in the “Star Camp”. Like in the “Star Camp”, people had to wear a yellow “Star of David” on their clothes. They were given food and the sick were cared for the right way.
The “Special Camp” held Polish Jews who had not been transported in the middle of 1943. In the “Special Camp” prisoners did not have to work. In 19444 there became only 350 people in the “Special Camp”.
Built at the beginning of 1944, became known as the “Tent Camp”. In late October and early November 1944 around 3000 people had been evacuated from Auschwitz-Birkenau and housed in tents. When Anne and Margot Frank went to Bergen-Belsen they would have been temporarily housed in a tent camp.
The “Neutral Camp” became in Bergen-Belsen and had several hundred Jewish prisoners from neutral countries. If you stayed in the “Neutral Camp” , you did not have to work and working conditions became okay fairly good until 1945.
Bergen-Belsen also had a Small Women’s camp. The Small Women’s camp became known in August 1944, but it wasn’t used until November 7, 1944. When the “Small Women’s” cap became known, it was next to the “Star Camp” On December 2, 1944 there became a total of 15,257 prisoners in Bergen-Belsen. 8,000 of those prisoners turned out to be women and girls. In January 1945, the women’s camp turned into a second prisoner’s camp.
Bergen-Belsen also had a “Large Women’s” camp. By January 1945, there could have been 16,475 women in Bergen-Belsen. On March 15, 1945 there could have been 30,317 women in the “Large Women’s” camp.
Bergen-Belsen had a Prison camp too. The “Prison” camp became a part of Bergen-Belsen in April 1943. The “Prison” camp could have housed 500 male prisoners. The prisoners had to do hard labor t the point of exhaustion. The first transport from Buchenwald came on April 30, 1943.
To some people I am sure the liberation of Bergen-Belsen took forever. Bergen-Belsen became liberated on April 15, 1945. After the liberation about 500 people died daily of starvation and typhus. Out of the 40,000 living 28,000 died after the liberation.
Bergen-Belsen was filled of brutality, hard labor, starvation, and dead people. Many people in Bergen-Belsen died of starvation. Some died of being shot or hung and some, like Anne and Margot Frank, died of disease. Bergen-Belsen had 8 different sections inside of the whole camp. Bergen-Belsen was known for many things and had many firsts that other camps didn’t have. Bergen-Belsen changed many people’s lives.
